New mutant strain could be a reason behind more death cases In the US

As per the preprint of recent research done at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, a mutant dominant strain of Sars-CoV2 can be the reason behind more than 70,000 death cases in the United States. The strain is considered to be very dangerous due to its mutant form of the original SARS-CoV2 strain which originated in Wuhan city of China in 2019.

The mutant strain is characterized to be more contagious and virulent when compared with any other strains. The mutant strain is named as D614G. Though the research paper is pending to be peer-reviewed, various other supporting studies showed its spread in the US from other countries. The mutant strain of the virus is known to start spreading initially in the European countries around in the month of February which later got transmitted to the US and became one of the dominant strains of the virus.

In the research, study scientists identified 14 different mutant variants of the coronavirus, wherein they found D614G to be of immediate concern. As per the research, this mutant version of the virus has the highest transmission rate and can make people susceptible to a secondary infection.
